Originally from Istanbul/Turkey, Netherlands based Murat Ali Cengiz is a freelance architect, composer and pianist. He exhibited with his collective: Automata at the fourth Istanbul Design Biennial, using design as a composition tool. He is the creator of the ongoing cross-disciplinary audio-visual project: “Musicographics”, exhibiting and performing at various locations such as, Kunsthal, Nieuwe Instituut, Muziekwerf, OMI, Bureau Europa and Rotterdam Architecture Month in the Netherlands.

He has held workshops and classes at the HKU Conservatorium (Utrecht), YTU architecture faculty (Istanbul) and Codarts (Rotterdam) on combining music and design. His latest international project “No Musicians’ Land” was performed at the Marina Abramovic exhibition in Istanbul, 2020. He has performed as a pianist and a band leader throughout Europe in venues like: Muziekgebouw, Tivoli Vredenburg, Oosterport, Elbjazz, Wonderfeel, Injazz.He has released his solo piano album "Urban Pianola" at 2020.
